If nobody points to your site, not only will your site not rank well, it will eventually drop out of the index altogether.

If nobody trusts nor rates your content interesting enough to link to it, then why should the search engines have to believe that you have anything valuable to offer to the web?

Google’s Matt Cutts advises you to look for relevant sites that link back to you. That is a great strategy, because it will not only get you better ranking, but drive traffic from the sites that link to you and raise awareness of your web presence.

So find out what high quality websites are relevant to your industry and examine how you can get a link back from them. By interacting in their forum? By writing guest articles for them? By offering to exchange links? By achieving something that is worth mentioning to them? Find out what it takes.

You need other sites to link to you. The good news is: if you have a worthwhile site and are willing to contribute in your ‘industry-community’, getting links won’t be all that hard.

Cloaking: showing different pages to users than to search engines. IP delivery includes things like "users from Britain get sent to the co.uk, users from France get sent to the .fr".
